Event Description

Saturday Tour - "The Cat's Meow" with Denise and Ed Lindow
Requested Donation: $5 (Cash or check only)
For the benefit of the planet and our neighbors, please car pool or bike when possible.

This is not an Open House. Because of the huge interest in this tour, there will be two time slots. First one starts at 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, with the next tour starting right away at 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

It is a whimsical and inviting place. An urban oasis with a soothing waterfall flowing into a fish pond under a large shady mesquite tree inviting you to stay and enjoy this amazing habitat of birds, bees, praying mantis, dragonflies, and many other ceatures of nature. A place in the city that feels like paradise, yet has been producing organic vegetables and edibles for the past ten years while using principals of composting and companion gardening in raised gardens. Other features are the rainwater collecting and creative rain gutters that are a true work of art while practical at the same time. Recently added solar panels
and geothermal for heating/cooling make this a wonderfully sustainable place.

This property gives people a chance to see how much can be done with limited space to create a true living environment. Rainwater and graywater capturing systems have reduced water usage by over half while maintaining nearly twice the garden, including a new orchard. Geo-thermal heating/cooling and solar power roof panels have been recently added and will allow the house to generate and sell back power. Visitors will also tour an aquascape and an extensive organic vegetable garden that has been in constant production for over ten years.
