I am a country girl at heart - stuck in the city! For years I have been planning for the day I can relocate to a green, rural area. But ,for now, I have decided to "bloom where I am planted". I started my suburban "farm" last year (2009) with five dwarf fruit trees. They all died over the summer. So, I am starting again. My husband and I just finished (Feb. 2010) building raised beds - we now have about 165 sq. ft. of garden space. We welcomed six fuzzy baby chicks in June of 2009. They are all big, beautiful hens now and living comfortably in a small cottage in the back yard. We also have two new apple trees - hopefully they have a brighter future ahead of them than the others did!
