Pot bellied pig needs a home

I need to give up my pot bellied pig.  Be aware if you have chickens, this may not be a good fit for you.  He is very playful and loves to play with my chickens, but he ends up hurting them.  That is why I have to give him away.  I will include the remainder of his food.  He is about 6 months old, probably 35 to 40 ponds, unnuetered male pot bellid pig.  I was in the process of saving up to get him nuetered.  I would prefer to find him a home before having to go to a sanctuary.  If interested…See More

"Biosecurity measures would have you quarantine her for a month in a completely separate area. Backyard farmers frequently forego this, that's up to you. (Honestly in this case I would probably skip it, but I feel obliged to inform people what…"

"Nope, more like this (they're kinda hard to see but instead of just the little puffy cheek feathers they're more like regular feathers)"

"Thank you. It is very different caring for only a few hens. On my farm I had close to 200, and we never introduced just one, so the new ones always had buddies that were the same age as support. What are the recommendations for introducing one that…"

"Just as an FYI, pretty much all of the birds we backyard chicken people have that lay the green/blue eggs are easter eggers. Which are a mutt that lays colored eggs. Some folks may have Americaunas but Araucanas are a very rare breed that lays only…"

Looking for Ameraucana to add to flock

One of my Ameraucana hens just died suddenly, no signs of illness or injury, and after reading a few posts of other deaths, I am wondering if they are just susceptible to the heat. But I would like to add another girl to our flock, so I am looking to purchase an Ameraucana that is already laying.  My birds are not vaccinated, so a non vaccinated but healthy bird is what I am looking for.See More

Any fellow Pot Bellied Pig Owners out there?

Does any pot bellied pig owner know of a low cost clinic that will see pot bellied pigs.  My pig is very healthy, but I am getting him registered for the city and I need a vet's statement verifying size, weight and nuetered status.  Also would like to get any required or reccommended vaccines for pig.  Also let me know if any of you have had trouble with the city, it seems people are warry of pigs and don't believe that you can actually keep them as pets(my neighbors called the city reporting…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
I am an organic farmer, currently in Texas, but on my way to the Phoenix area. I grow heirloom vegetables and raise heritage breed chickens. I will have to live in the city in Phoenix and I am hoping to be able to bring some of my chickens with me and want to set up a small urban farm in my backyard. I want to learn about growing vegetables in the desert climate and growing native plants, perennials, maybe some Native American heirloom vegetables. I'm excited for this new journey in my life!
