Did anyone ever get back to you on this? I plan on growing melons in the spring and was wondering what happened. Are you going to/did you get something to deter the birds?

So it sounds like I should use some topsoil mixed with compost, correct? Since I'm not digging anything out, I don't have extra soil. I know that I can get topsoil from a landscape supplier like Pioneer.
