Does Water in Rain Barrels Go Bad?

I have one (soon to be two) 60 gallon food grade plastic rain barrels that are opaque reddish-orange.  This is my first year w/them and I'm wondering if the hot weather causes problems w/water stored…

A relatively labor-free way to reduce dust residue in rain barrels is to drop a 2-3 gallon vertical dead end pipe off your downspout before it ends at your barrel. The "dirty" first water drops into that sink and the subsequent cleaner water goes in…
