Female ducklings

Hi Megan, I would love 2 ducklings! I have chickens, but I also have an egg allergy, and my doctor says it rarely crosses species, so ducks should be good! I assume I will have to house them separate…

Hi Megan, your 2 ladies are doing great... seem to be settling down, and gaining confidence in their new quarters. Can you give me the name of the food you had been feeding them?

Thanks for all this great information - she seems to have a very mild case, they are going away already, and it hasn't affected her behavior or anything. I have separated her from the rest of the chickens (I only have 5), but that is probably too la…

Yep, they look like a fungus, plus she is my "top hen" - if anyone is ever pecking, she is doing it. I think I might have found it... avian pox... apparently caused by mosquitos. Looks like some iodine and time should do the trick. Really awful look…

I built my coop 2 feet off the ground, with a ramp for the chickens to walk down to graze, etc. I keep a waterer under the coop on a cinder block, and a waterer and food in the coop. This solved 2 problems... 1 the irrigation, and 2, roof rats would…

Argh! If one has lice, they all do to some degree. If it's a full-blown infestation I'm sorry to say that DE is probably not going to be strong enough to work. You may have to resort to something like Permethrin, which should definitely not be taken…

I don't know if anyone is still interested in this topic, but I'd like to share what I have been using lately that has been very helpful. One of my girls hatched out 14 babies on 28 June and with it being so hot of course I need to keep all of them…

One of my chickens died this summer due to heat stress, just as we were putting up shade cloth to cool them off. I've since bought a simple mister for the other 4 birds and they LOVE it! They aren't panting any more and run under the mister and play…

If no one is interested, they could go to the Humane Society, who will spay and neuter them, and find them homes.

I've had a mister only and mine are doing great temp wise- one has lice, though so I've got to get that fixed- but as far as temp goes a mister during the day has been sufficient.
