HI--DO YOU STILL HAVE ACCESS TO 5 GALLON WHITE BUCKETS? WE ARE MAKING BUCKET GARDENS FOR AN EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT AND I'D APPRECIATE ANY YOU CAN SUPPLY US WITH. MY E-MAIL IS EPHARPPEN@COX.NET. thANKS! pENNY
Thanks ya'll! I struck out at a couple of restaurants and ended up purchasing one from Artie's hardware. Gonna need more though, lots and lots more for a project my son has cooking :)
Check with your local grocery store. The bakery department at a Target store near my house saved some for me. They get cake frosting in them. They were able to save me 7 buckets in 4 days.
How many do you need? Very few restaurants recycle because they have to use private companies that charge them, but my husband brings them home to our recycling, and we use them for all kinds of things.
For what it's worth...back in the day I researched food safe buckets for pond filters and found that black buckets are not food safe and white buckets are. Kind of makes sense since they all use the same plastic.
If you strike out on free you can b…

Hey Nichol,
I had an email that I apparently didnt send to you, and I dont have anymore.
Heres some more numbers/dollars.
Each corner attachment is $50 it includes a combination of:
Turnbuckle or clip, 2" X 2" tubing with holes for attaching and bolting, 2 expansion bolts or lag screws with shields, quick link and shackle.
A package of JB weld epoxy is $10 and will work on 3-4 attachment points.
A Triangle or Rectangle with sides less than or around 10' are $50 (I have odd shaped scraps too so dont be afraid to ask for custom anything)
More than 1 triangle.rectangle sail can use an attachment (so 2 or more can share one attachment (but will have an up charge for hardware).
You were supposed to send me pictures. I looked at the video, after searching the site cause the link didnt work, but it didnt show enough :(
Exact measurements are crucial to make this work. Have your husband hold the end of a tape measure and get wall to wall. You can use paint bucket to draw the measurements (include the North arrow). I know thats a lot of work, but budget takes work! Thank you!
I want to thank you both for meeting with me and sharing your garden. I am very excited and I learned a lot. The PTA meeting was great and I found that a few people were very excited to hear about it. The principal gave me the facts of what would be a problem and said if I can get around that, no problem. I am going to call two other schools today, the one you told me and another parent told me about one at Hidden Hills. I will keep you updated.
Sounds like a great project.
I have a few concerns about working with a school. But I'm brave.
If this is a public institution, the bureaucracy could make this more than a project about bringing some fun and functional shade. Plus public institutions can have a variety checks that need to be met. I can do it and would like to talk to you about how you would like this to proceed.
My email address is sylatupa@mail.usf.edu
I would like to come by the school please email me the address and your phone number.
New to the forums & saw the post about the kitten - hope he found a good home! I also seem to attract rescue pets - those cute little eyes, that nose ;0). Most recently very tiny kittens needing to be hand fed who then stayed to torment my dogs...have 4 cats, 2 dogs and a few outside cats who love a good free lunch (and dinner and breakfast). I'm also a newbie gardener, 2nd year, from a long line of farmer genes in Michigan, and an 'under the covers after dark with a flashlight' reading kid from way back. Hope I get a chance to meet you at one of the upcoming events - I'm looking forward to meeting like-minded folks to share gardening tips with. Regards, Julie
Hi Nichol~ she can definately give me a call, although please warn her that I am pretty terrible with phones. But we will work it out. And if we can't make contact, all of the extra canned goods are being donated to the Guild's mesquite pancake breakfast, so if this becomes too difficult, they will be going to a good home. Thanks~ Heather
Hi Nichol~ It is definately not too late. :) Let me know if you, or one of your girls, will be at the Farmers Market this weekend and we can ronde vous there or set up another time to get the cans to you. Let me know what would be best. Thanks~ Heather
Hey you! Sorry I didn't get back to you - both my house and my mom's were a net-free zone for a week while we got new modems - I thought I was gonna freakin' DIE.
Ok, I know you said there were others who were interested but even though I'm sure he would be fine in a colony if those fell through I wanted to offer him a home. All of the cats we've had over the years have been rescues; we've never had one FLV positive though so that would be a problem since we already have one here.
We actually live in Cordes Junction -- take I-17 north to the Prescott exit and that's Cordes right there at the exit. If you go right, it's a subdivision, if you go left it goes to Arcosanti.
I think your program is awesome and looked at it for Heights for our program, but we have over 400 children so the cost would be too high for us this year. I did speak with the other co-chair and, unfortunately, we cannot sponsor your program for the Pac at Heights. Turns out we have a large population of children in our program that do not attend Heights Elementary and we have made a commitment to the children of Heights specifically as it is their money we have been entrusted with.
It sounded better when she said it :(
I find myself with free time this summer though and, if provided a list of Pacs would be willing to call them to find out how many children are actually enrolled so you would have a better idea of your shortage. I could also help gather donations for raffles or volunteer gifts. I served twice as a board member of our PTO, have chaired our nature Studies Program for the past 3 years and have worked in a volunteer capacity with several nonprofits going back 15 years.
I just spoke with Jen Dunsworth and turns out you know about Rhonda's Inspired Birthdays. You probably know about Heights 'cause Rhonda's children go there. Jen was my co-pres of the PTO back in 2005. She says hello and if you attend canning on Saturday you'll get to meet her.
Heights is at 7150 N. 22nd St and I think the program is Madison Adventure Club. Krista Yocum runs that program.
let me know if I can help,
Nichol
Herbs in pots mini update: the lavender bit the dust but everything else is looking a bit better. I moved everything to the edge of the shade so it's gets morning sun, and I stopped watering everything every day (overkill clearly, but they looked so…
Hi all- I would like to order some Cornish X next week, but would prefer to have my mother in law raise them in Prescott rather than in Phx. Anyone know how Cornish X will do in cooler weather up in Prescott?

So I cooked the first of the rabbits we processed last week. Fried it like chicken. What went wrong is I have never fried chicken and I cooked it too long resulting in rubber rabbit so I popped it into the crockpot for three hours and it was divine…
I was just reviewing John Jeavon's book How to Grow More Vegetables and in it he mentions planting Mexican marigold (Tagetes minuta) for controlling nematodes.
Hi Brittany,
Now is sure the time to be making Kombucha since it's been gone off the shelves for a few months now. I so miss it! I hope and pray that the issues get resolved and it comes back.
I've had some really good success with making Kombucha…
