No summer squash

Okay, I have a couple of squash now. Keeping my fingers crossed that they mature. Increased my watering to this plant and it really seemed to help. Also, I found a bunch of ants in one of the blossom…

So, my summer squash plant is producing lots of flowers, but no squash. I don't see any bugs. It seems that the flower is drying up before it can make a squash. Any ideas???

Yeah, I'm thinking the soaker hose we used before we left for a few days caused it. I'm back to watering with the can. Each plant gets a full can. Wondering if that's too much. The melons seem fine though, so not sure.

I think it's mold. The first time I saw it it was under some fruit.

Our black beauty (which was thriving but not producing a lot) and our crookneck (not as big as zuchini and producing small amounts of shriveled squash) has taken a big turn for the worst. We deep watered and then went out of town from Friday-Saturda…

How creative! I love what you've done front and back! Just wondering, did you make or purchase the beautiful little trinkets and bird houses throughout your gardens?

I have a few large terra cotta pot bottoms in my coop. I fill them with water in the morning and again in the evening. My hens love standing in them most of the day. Since the increase in temps, I have even found them roosting in the them at night (…

Ours aren't doing well either, seem small and shriveled. My husband wants to blame the ants in the garden, but I keep reading about lack of pollination. We have a lone bee that we've seen recently who also comes around for the water (when we're in o…

Thanks for your insight. I an old beekeeper myself when I lived back in Texas. It's been almost 20 years since I kept bees and haven't kept up on the African Bees, I thought they'd already covered this area by now. We had them coming into Texas duri…

Chris, that bit on Africanized bees dying in the winter has proven false. There was a special on them on t.v. last year sometime and it showed how the bees acclimatized to the cold and were just as deadly. It was a VERY interesting documentary, you…

By sheer luck I came up with a magical solution to this problem. I put a small birdbath by my squash plant and fill it every evening. It works wonders at tracting the bees! The whole rim is covered with them stopping by for a sip of water. It has be…
