Artificial grass gets really hot!
June 17
Good that you won't use the artificial turf. Recycled plastic in extremely toxic in the AZ heat from off- gassing. It's also not good for the land its installed on. Saves water though
June 15
Never thought about that... how big does it get? I don't want it to look overgrown or unplanned. I'll see what I can find out. Thanks!
June 15
what about clover. It adds nutrients to the soil and looks pretty. maybe just an area arond your entry way that would catch some of the dust before the dogs come in.
June 12
Thanks, Jamie. I'm not into the artificial turf, but that sounds cool that the company makes this from recycled plastic!

Thanks VT. I heard about this place a while ago and forgot, but will probably visit. I need some compost too.

Well, besides some trees or a shade structure - I might consider a patch of fake turf if you prefer a grass-like aesthetic. I know that doesn't sound like a sustainable solution, but I know a company that makes it of 100% recycled low-grade plastic.…

I bought wood chips from Ken Singh and my dogs will go out and lay on it and it definitely keeps the dust down. I have a pool and it doesn't blow into it which is nice. Not sure if he still sells it. He is open on Saturday's only so I'd check then.…

I've got an almost bare backyard and the dust is killing me. I want a place in my yard where our 3 dogs can go to stay cool but not track in tons of dust when they come back in the house. I'd rather not maintain grass, but don't know of any other go…

We live just north of downtown, off the 51 at Glendale. Where are you? Good luck with the chickens, they're such great 'pets' that serve a very practical purpose, too. Know you'll enjoy the workshop! The picture of your pie gave you away...it just looks like one of those luscious Indiana pies! Lisa is currently in Chattanooga, her husband is in Huntsville and their house is in Atlanta...with the economy and jobs, they're just doing what they have to do. I keep trying to get her out here for good, though.

Luanne - do you by chance have a sister, Karen? If so, I graduated with her at FCHS. I have a sister, Lisa, who may have graduated with your class.
