I don't have fruit trees yet but I have native Palo Verdes's when can I trim them? What time of the year is better? They are native to the property and I want to honor them. I have the same question for an Iron Tree on the property.
Thanks that helps. The Quails eat all the seeds that drop. I'm surprised the WoodPecker's an other birds don't like these grubs. Thanks. I'll have some patience.
Grubs are really hard to "get rid of" unless you start poisoning them with chemicals and then you kill everything-not good and not working with nature. Newly planted plants are more prone to problems because they are trying to grow and adjust to the…
So, far, there is 1 plant that is struggling, leaves turning yellow but now seems to be coming around. I'm concerned about the Palo Verde tree near by. That tree has been there forever.
Good to know the plants are designed for "some" pest problems.…
I moved a plant and when I dug into the ground there they were, about a shovel deep down. This was about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I dug scoop deep to move a irrigation line and there was another fat white grub worm. I alos looked 'em up on google.
I live on an acre. I added ruella, desert lavendar, summer blue emus to the yard this year AND drip irrigation. Prior to that it was natural desert. Now I see I have Grub Worms.
How do I get rid of manage the Grub Worms?

Herbs in pots mini update: the lavender bit the dust but everything else is looking a bit better. I moved everything to the edge of the shade so it's gets morning sun, and I stopped watering everything every day (overkill clearly, but they looked so…
Hi all- I would like to order some Cornish X next week, but would prefer to have my mother in law raise them in Prescott rather than in Phx. Anyone know how Cornish X will do in cooler weather up in Prescott?

I was just reviewing John Jeavon's book How to Grow More Vegetables and in it he mentions planting Mexican marigold (Tagetes minuta) for controlling nematodes.
