Solar powered windmill? Typically, ranchers used mechanical windmills to pump water water in remote locations to deliver water to their cattle. Lately on my backroad adventures, I have noticed many of these old windmills have been converted to using…
Know this, those spines will be in your yard for years. They will stick THRU think soled thongs, and will stick in everything. They are a pain, literally and figuratively.
whatever you do with it, move it so it's not rotting in your yard where you…
Chris, that bit on Africanized bees dying in the winter has proven false. There was a special on them on t.v. last year sometime and it showed how the bees acclimatized to the cold and were just as deadly.
It was a VERY interesting documentary, you…
We had lots of apples but the birds got to ALL of them before I did. I did not know birds would eat apples. I would have covered that little bitty tree like the tomatos. You'd think they'da had their fill of chicken feed in the duck pen, but noooooo…

I guess just the garden photos on your home page. I'm not totally used to this forum's set-up yet -- but whatever I saw, wherever I saw it, definitely looked verdant for the Sonoran Desert. I'd love to see what you've got started this year.
I found PPG from a friend. We were having coffee and getting reacquainted when she realized I was just as excited about composting as she was, so she forwarded me the "June 24th Upcoming Permaculture Classes & News" email to keep me in the loop. I don't even have a garden yet, but I am dreaming and planning. I'm such a geek about it.
What about you? When did you start growing and harvesting things, and how did you find this site?
Woah! Those are great garden pics! You've got an edible jungle!
As to the work, I have worked at a health clinic, as an EFL teacher in South Korea, at a wine shop and a coffee shop and a restaurant kitchen, at a children's museum, been a residence advisor, and written op-ed pieces for a school newspaper. I'm interested in a lot of different jobs, basically. :-) I've been looking into healthcare, the food/wine industry, administration, and things that can use my writing skills. A lot of it is still up in the air, though.
Hey Janine! I am the one with the compost/mulch available. I have another person showing up maybe on Friday after 4pm. I am available a lot. I will say that tue-thur afternoon is busy and Saturday's are usually busy, but other than that we are pretty open, you let me know what works for you. Talk to you soon!

My name is Sheryl and I am trying to find a nice Mocovy drake to breed with my beautiful girls! I'm interested in ducklings too but Dave and Karl won't have any availiable for a while. Do you have a nice drake that you would be willing to part with maybe?? My ducks are my pets and I don't eat them; they have a forever home with me! Thanks! Sheryl

Hi Janine: Thanks for friending me! I'm not actually active with this group any more but post over at www.AZHomegrownSolutions.org so I apologize for how long it took me to respond to your friend request.
So I cooked the first of the rabbits we processed last week. Fried it like chicken. What went wrong is I have never fried chicken and I cooked it too long resulting in rubber rabbit so I popped it into the crockpot for three hours and it was divine…
I was just reviewing John Jeavon's book How to Grow More Vegetables and in it he mentions planting Mexican marigold (Tagetes minuta) for controlling nematodes.
Hi Brittany,
Now is sure the time to be making Kombucha since it's been gone off the shelves for a few months now. I so miss it! I hope and pray that the issues get resolved and it comes back.
I've had some really good success with making Kombucha…
Hi Chris - I don't have a PH tester. I've always just added bagged composted mulch, steer manuer and Starbucks grounds to my existing AZ soil to ammend. Some years my spring tomatoes are really good and sometimes not so good. Is there anything in ad…
