The metal container does get hot from the sun. My goal is to cover the outside of it with burlap eventually to help shade it, and will position/set up the container in a morning sun/afternoon shade soon.
The examples from InsideUrbanGreen.org has the bottom of the plastic bottle completely cut off. I left a bit of it attached to act as a lid that I can set something over it to help reduce water from evaporating. The small overflow drain is positioned at the height of the reservoir.
Nice! Did you cut the top off of the water bottle, or how does that work? Does the metal container get hot from the sun?
