My friend showed me how to make soap. So we made this olive and coconut oil soap, with lots of herbs, and brisk oils like tea tree and eucalyptus.

Plus, some peppermint, and lemon balm from my garden.

It also includes the jojoba nuts that I foraged, for moisturizing and exfoliating.

I'm not. But my friend might. She said she probably could, but had a few questions. I forwarded them on to Christy Grace, but have not heard back yet.

@ Jane - I have not used it yet, as it's supposed to cure for 2-4 weeks. It's my understanding that until then, it's still caustic - yikes! Oh and trust... we have a LOONNNGGGG way to go toward independence. ;c )

@ Susan - Since this was my first time, and I was under a LOT of direction, I don't think I'm experienced enough yet to give a class. Maybe once I get a few more batches under my belt. ;c )

And yes, it can be dangerous. Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is caustic, and can burn you! You have to be very careful not to get it on your skin, and not to get water in it. We had to rinse any utensils or containers that came in contact with it with white vinegar, to neutralize it.

Also, due to a chemical reaction, it gets hot, temperature-wise.

Nonetheless, if you're very careful, it's completely safe.

WOW!
Can you give a class?
I would love to learn how to make soap...I've been reading recipes...Is it dangerous?

This is just amazing. Have you started using it yet, and if so, what do you think? You can do so many things - I swear you and your DH will be totally off the grid soon, if you're not already. :o)
