The medium is called hydroton clay, Its like little round terracotta pots, they are light and float. you can find them in just about any hydroponic shop. To fill this tube took 35 liters of hydroton about $36. Kinda expensive. my bottom grow container has pebble rock in it and seems to be doing just fine just have to account for more weight.
