Good afternoon!

I just noticed that one of my hens isn't using her left leg.  This is a recent development as an hour ago she was walking on it just fine.  I picked her up to see if I could get a good look at her leg/foot but she gave me a hard time (flapping about and such).  What could cause this?  An injury of some sort?  An illness?

Kelly

PS - I attached a video of her.  It is about 3 minutes long.  Feel free to fast forward to the part where we get her to stand up.

I would say by looking at the video, she is injured. I see no sign of illness, nor is she showing any sign of a lot of pain, which is common in animals. I would give her some time and see if she starts walking on it again but if she shows no desire to walk on it by tommorrow I would consider taking her to a vet to see if she broke it. Most of the time if they twist the leg or hurt a muscle they will attempt walking on it fairly soon and she is showing no sign of wanting to use it.
Best of luck to her.

Hi all- I would like to order some Cornish X next week, but would prefer to have my mother in law raise them in Prescott rather than in Phx.  Anyone know how Cornish X will do in cooler weather up in Prescott?    Jay
