Join us in creating a more sustainable Phoenix!
hi,
we need to raise our back porch up to prevent it from getting flooded with irrigation.
i had one fellow come over and give me an estimate that was ok with but now he has dissappeared and another guy gave me an estimate that was more than double the first one.
is there anyone that any of you have used and could recommend for something like this?
it's about 340 sq. ft. and simply needs a layer of pavers laid over it.
thanks for any advice,
jason

Grayson was very good to work with and his crew did an excellent job for us last year.

Permalink Reply by Charles Bukowski on April 2, 2012 at 1:39pm This guy is the best. He fixed a huge mistake the first contractor made. Price was reasonable and he stayed on the job until it was completed. His name is Raul and his English is a bit limited however his wife is fluent in English and Spanish.
Speak with his wife Iris @ 602-331-9264.

Permalink Reply by Charles Bukowski on April 4, 2012 at 7:59am Please let me know, he was referred to me by a fussy superior court judge. Apparently he has done a lot of the hardscaping / brick work in central Phoenix.
My name is Cameron, he will know me by that or Vincente.
Best of luck!
Permalink Reply by JasonM on April 11, 2012 at 2:13pm thanks for the referral. he did remember you. i cannot say enough good things about these guys (he had a partner named cesar). they came on time did the work RIGHT and stayed until every scrap was cleaned up. the patio is perfect and for less than all other bids i got. they are honest and very polite. i would recommend them to anyone, in fact i am having them do more work soon.

Thanks for posting this and for the follow-up. I've been putting off a small job of a little bit of tuck-pointing (following some sandblasting work) and also finishing off the top rows of a block fence (previous owners stopped in the middle of work, I guess)....I have constant hesitation stemming from "contractor rip-off fears". :(
Really appreciate the referral from you and Cameron/Vincente/Charles (there must be a story there...)
Permalink Reply by Charles Bukowski on April 12, 2012 at 8:50am Good deal! I do my best to support people who are competent and have a good work ethic. Raul fits that bill to a T .
Cameron is my real name, Vincente is the name I use if I am working when working with Spanish speaking workers. It turns out, Cameron sounds very much like camaron which means shrimp in Spanish. To avoid the jokes and simplify things I go by my middle name which is Vincent / Vicente. Charles is my nom du plume on this blog. It is in honor of my favorite poet, Charles Bukowski.
Enjoy your patio!
