Join us in creating a more sustainable Phoenix!

I have been generating a bounty of [uniform] glass bottles. Anyone have a use for them?  Let me know and I'll save them up.  I'm in central phoenix (northern/15Ave).

Are they brown?  If so, yes I would be interested in them as we are making beer and are only using brown bottles.

:-(

Just clear and green bottles, wine-size.  I can start saving brown bottles too, and I'll message you directly when I have a stash, Cassandra.

I could probably use them. I'm making a wine bottle border around my garden beds.

Will start boxing them up (green pelligrino and clear acqua bottles).  Maybe in a week or two I can come drop them off.  :-)

Sweet, thanks! I really need to get crackin' on that border. I have a stash of about 20 bottles already. It's the digging I'm not looking forward to :(

Wet it down good two days before digging.  Break ground at 5AM.  Trenching shovel and or Mattock style pick works well.

a wine bottle border?  how are you doing that?  I'm interested!!

I just dig a little trench, and them pound them in (neck-down) with a deadblow. The bases of the bottles can take a surprising amount of impact. So far, I've only managed to break three.

Here's are some pics from April. Now, I'm almost done with the rounded bed, and I still have about 4 cases of empty bottles to work with.

nice!!

Grrlscout, when I saw the new notes in this thread I thought of a recycle I just posted to my pinterest last week or so.

What a cool idea you have!

Haha! I think I probably first got the idea from Pinterest.

I think the only difference with mine is that my beds are lower than the path. Untimately, I want the bases of the bottles level with the path. Trying to encourage drainage *into* the beds.

BTW I just started following some of your boards. ;c )

I think the drainage idea is great.  I only discovered pinterest a while back through Deane's one daughter and could not figure out how it would benefit me until I realized I'm always clipping and saving ideas either physically or in my computer - then I can't find them!  So when pinterest was described as a virtual bulletin-board - bingo the beebee dropped for me and I figured I could use it to collect really neat ideas.  Glad you like the postings I'm doing on it :-)
