Compost Workshop – Weeds to Compost

Instructor: "Farmer" Tony Robson

This is a hands on workshop in learning how to layer a windrow compost pile from organic material. Using biodynamic gardening principals of sustainability, you will create a compost pile using three primary ingredients:
water, weeds, and dried yard waste. In our dry hot desert climate the efforts of this labor creates the building blocks that turns dirt to soil. This can be done on a small or large scale, your back yard or on a farm.

Principles of Composting

• Thermophilic micro organisms and anaerobic breakdown
• Layering of ingredients
• Construction
• Application

Practicum

• Constructing a Windrow Compost pile
• Working with finished compost

Note: Materials will be supplied including hand out.
